Should I purchase a plasma TV?

The biggest advantage to buying a Plasma TV's is the wide viewing angle.  The picture quality will remain the same no matter where you sit to view the television. So this means the person sitting on the sofa in front of the TV has the same picture quality as the person sitting on the floor or the person that got stuck sitting in the chair to the far right or left of the TV. This is especially important if you are planning to mount your TV on wall. A plasma TV will keep the same picture quality when viewed from below but the LCD television will have a diminished picture if viewed from an angle. The price of a Plasma TV is comparable to the LCD so you shouldn’t consider cost as a factor. One thing you may want to keep in mind is the deep black level that Plasma TV's have and the high contrast. These features make watching dark scenes in the movie appear very clear.

Should I purchase a LCD TV?

One of the best features of an LCD TV is that it is very energy friendly. Over time the television will probably pay for itself by reducing the amount you pay on your energy bills each month. If you are consciously placing emphasis on earth friendly activities and actively looking for the greener choices, then you definitely want to choose an LCD over a plasma TV.  If you are looking to reduce your monthly electricity bills, you will want to purchase an LCD TV. Another feature you might want to take an advantage of is the LCD is free from the gamer burn. Plasma TV owners often experiences the “gamer burn” if they play video games on them. This comes from images in the video game that remain on the screen and often get burned into the screen. This will not occur with the LCD TV.  Finally, you want to consider the lighting in the room where you will be watching your new TV.  If you’re going to be in a very well lit room then you want to choose an LCD. If you every experience a distorted picture when the sunlight hits the TV screen then you will want a LCD because the picture will continue to show bright.  

When you’re looking for a flat screen TV, there is really no right or wrong choice when it comes to Plasma or LCD TV’s. It’s a personal choice base on the features you feel are most attractive and suitable to your home and lifestyle. Just remember to look around because technology is improving all the time. You will want to take advantage of the latest features of a Plasma screen TV or the newest LCD (often called a LED television).
